Once again, things are ever changing here in Africa.
For over 3 months now we have been living in the Drakensberg Mountains, with the Sotho people. Mary, and I are happy to tell you people are the same wherever you go, and so are friends, it is nice to have friends in the village who come to see us. We are continuing to teach the bible studies, but have some good news to share.
The weeks schedule has changed a bit, we have been blessed with a new friend from Lesotho, his name is Thabiso Sebeko, and we call him Pastor John. John moved here on Easter day, and we have enjoyed him ever since, he speaks wonderful English, and immediately started to translate for some of the bible studies. John's story is wonderful, and needs to be shared; he left his Church of 14 years located in Lesotho, in the care of his trusted Elders, and Jr. Pastor, to help a new friend who was having problems here in the village.
Only 2 people were attending his church, and when Pastor John came here he found out why. John found out the Church was under Bondage, not bondservants of Christ, but of the Law, and had a book of rules, most of which are NO's, no clapping, no standing, no short sleeve shirts, I'm sure you get the picture. John came to our house very sad and confused; he then said he would be telling the church that he would not be able to go against the Lord, and the Good News, by teaching wrong doctrine. Can we all say AMEN?
This wonderful man of God has blessed us for the last two months. Some changes during the week are as follows: Tuesday morning Chris, John, and another older Pastor (we call him Etate Moholo -- it means grandfather) meet for a Men's bible study. Later in the afternoon Tuesday we have a Senior Leadership bible study. Wednesday, Mary is still teaching the ladies bible study. Friday's teen study has been moved to Saturday, because of the early sunset. Also Saturday mornings Pastor John has asked if we (Mary, John, and Chris) could go around the village, and pray for the people in their homes. Sunday's are Church at the Care Center Complex, with Wim pastoring.
Things to pray about: this Sunday Mary and I were asked to teach another bible study, approximately 5 miles away at a Church at the bottom of the mountain; they heard we are teaching the bible, from one of Mary's ladies from the Wednesday study. This was an answer to prayer -- we have been wanting to help in other places, and Pastor John would like us to go with him once a month to Lesotho, to teach the bible as well. Please pray for all of these new and exciting things the Lord is doing. AMEN.
With much Love,
Chris and Mary Rabenort
